The Fair Finance Campaign was our raison d'être.  This is just a new name.  Since our founding we have held our insured financial institutions and their regulators accountable through our comments during bank mergers or regulatory reforms.  We are working on a summary of our activities over 20 years for your perusal.

Benefits to the community

bulletAfrican American borrowers were more than times more likely to be denied than a Caucasian borrower before 1987.  Today, this disparity is less than two times.
bulletAll federally insured financial institutions offer a first time home buyer product that is designed to include a broader base of our community build assets such as owning a home.
bulletWe were instrumental in eliminating some influence of regulated financial institutions on payday lending.

Challenges ahead

bulletSmall business data disclosure remains unusable to assess who is and who is not getting loans.
bulletExotic mortgages are being sold as main stream products to those who simply cannot afford them.
bulletRegulated financial institutions are not aggressively competing for business from the lower income communities.
bulletRegulators no longer exercise their influence on demanding a changed behavior of our financial institutions.
bulletLegislature believes that so long as we have sufficient disclosure, let the buyer beware.
