The low income tax clinic was launched as a preventive measure.  We wanted to make sure that our target community did not impair their future access to credit and capital due to their unpaid tax obligations.  We wanted to educate our community about the high cost of Refund Anticipation Loans.  Lastly, we wanted our community to take full advantage of free tax preparation sites and all the credits that were available to them.  Since 2003, with funding from GMAC Bank and the IRS, we continue to serve our constituents in many ways.
